Aurelio is one of the most significant Garifuna musicians. The Garifuna is an ethnic group in Middle America which lives along the Caribbean coast of Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. The 39-year old has even been a politician before focusing on music as the vehicle for his great desire, the preservation of his culture. Until his sudden death three years ago, the most important ambassador of the Garifuna culture was the great musician Andy Palacio. A role which now falls to his friend, Aurelio, who had already made a name for himself in 2004 with his debut album. As singer, guitarist, and composer, he understands like no other how to combine the wealth of African and Caribbean melodies. After working with the Afro-Pop-Star Youssou N’Dour for some time, he recently released his second studio album „Laru Beya“.
